The University of Aberdeen has a large site devoted to James Scott Skinner. It contains his publication of The Iron Man. The cover of this version had a Brazilian flag on it, possibly due to the William McHardy the song is dedicated to.

From The Fiddler's Companion:

Composed by James Scott Skinner for his friend and benefactor William M.F. McHardy, the Laird of Drumblair, who gave Skinner the use of a rent-free cottage for several years. Hunter (1979) reports that McHardy could well have afforded this, for he had made a fortune of 100,000 pounds in engineering enterprises in South America before returning to live at Forgue near Huntly.

This doesn't, however, explain why the Brazilian flag has its motto in English and the stars misplaced. The correct flag has the motto in Portugese (Ordem e Progresso), and the stars shaped into constellations.

James Scott Skinner also dedicated another strathspey, The Laird o' Drumblair, to William McHardy.
